A trip to Cognac, closer to the source. Inside Merlet, following the process from fruit to distillation, ageing and finally the bottle. Because sometimes you have to leave the bar, to understand better what you put behind it.

1️⃣ One month to go until the #UKBudget. The Chancellor said today that "the only long term answer is growth", and we agree.
The spirits sector wants to play its part in this by investing, growing and supporting jobs and communities across the UK, but needs the right conditions at home to do so.
Our ask of HM Treasury is clear: cut excise duty on spirits and commit to no further widening of the duty gap between spirits and other alcoholic drinks.

🥃 Spirits like #ScotchWhisky face duty of £33.99 per litre of pure alcohol and do not benefit from hospitality draught relief.
What makes a distillery worth visiting? In Ireland, distilleries have found ways to turn a visit into much more than a tour. Masterclasses, gastronomy, courses and other experiences help visitors connect with the people, heritage and communities behind the products. During Spirit of Life Week, Thom Breathnach, an award-winning travel writer from Ireland specialising in slow tourism, amongst other things, shared how tourists today want to do, not just see – and how Irish distilleries are creating immersive experiences for visitors to respond to this, using their products to tell the story of a place.
